Submitting to the Blog
We are pleased to once again welcome blog submissions after a lengthy hiatus. The JBHR Blog is a place for scholars to publish shorter-form, less formal pieces. Although blog guidelines allow for more flexibility in tone and structure than journal submission guidelines, JBHR still highly prioritizes original research and quality writing. This is a great opportunity to expand your publication portfolio!
We are looking for:
Blog submissions are not required to use full Chicago notes, but all sources must still be cited through hyperlinks, parenthetical citations, and/or endnotes. If selected for publication, the blog piece will undergo a brief round of copy-editing, but all work is expected to be error-free. Photos and graphical elements are highly encouraged.

We are looking for:
- Pieces between 500 and 1500+ words
- Process pieces about the study of history and historical writing as a craft
- Museum, media, and book reviews
- Short form original narrative, analytical, or reflective pieces
- Novel, intriguing, or off-beat work
